Zotero (Firefox plug-in) freezing

Hi Zotero team -

My Zotero (Firefox plug-in version) is giving me quite a few performance-related problems recently. In particular, Zotero seems to:
1) take a long time to start up when I click the Z icon in Firefox
2) freezes anytime I click on a library folder or article icon. Here, Firefox has to think for at least 20-30 seconds before it is functional again
3) freezes anytime any activity happens in Firefox that is related to Zotero, including importing of references from Google Scholar or any other site, importing of references from external files (I have only tried RIS files or XML files), and syncing of references
4) is generally super slow in Firefox and seems to slow all other processes in Firefox down.

I have tried to check my plug-ins and extensions (turning them on and off one at a time), but that has not helped much at all (I don't have many Firefox plug-ins).

I have reported an issue (Report ID 787977787), and have also run a debug log (Debug ID D594313235). Any resolution on this matter would be greatly appreciated!
  • Have you tried disabling all other Firefox add-ons? Does the speed issue persist?
  • Yes, I have tried to disable all of the other Firefox add-ons except for the Zotero-related ones (Zotero, Zotero Word for Windows Integration, and ZotFile), but the speed issue and freezing problems still persist.
  • Does it help to close the tag selector in the bottom left?
  • It helps a bit to close the tag selector, but it still freezes often and is quite slow.

Can you provide another Debug ID for a single operation that's slow with the tag selector closed?

Note that opening Zotero the first time in a Firefox session and clicking on a library isn't a good example — that's just when Zotero loads data in your library and will depend on the library size. But subsequent openings and usage should be fast.
