publication type icon not coming up in the browser bar

I have downloaded zotero and plugins for firefox but when I find a book, journal article etc the icon in the browser (url) bar to click to download direct to zotero is visible. Any ideas on why that is so?
  • The icons are no longer within the URL field but to the right. You should see a Z and an icon.

Check to see if your Firefox add-on plug-in list includes Zotero and that it is enabled. What version of Firefox? What version of Zotero?
  • Thanks for replying Dan

I've got Firefox version 4.7 and Zotero version 4.0.29.10

Firefox add-ons indicates Zotero is active.

I can see the "z" zotero in the 'overflow' bar indicated by the stacked 3 horizontal lines on teh far right of the browser panel and can call up zotero by clicking it.

However, the only way I can download a reference is by right clicking on the document and saving to my library. Is this the way it works?

    Thanks, Mary
  • No, it seems like either you changed the default layout or somehow ended up with a non-default one. See the linked 4.0.27 blog post for what the default layout looks like, and note the "Prefer another layout?" section, which explains how to add back the normal three-part button to the visible section of your toolbar. You'll then have the save button back.
  • Perfect! Finally figured it out. Thanks Dan
