How do I connect the standalone and chrome extension?

hello, please help me out, this drivves me crazy:
I downloaded first the standalone (newest edition) and after i downloaded the Chrome extension, both using the link on the Zotero webpage.
However, when i try to save something i cannot find it in my standalone library.../
Anyone know why and how to fix it

    Make sure you have Standalone running. Then, when you paste
    chrome-extension://ekhagklcjbdpajgpjgmbionohlpdbjgc/preferences/preferences.html into the Chrome bar and press return, what does it say under "Zotero Standalone"

    Below Zotero standalone it says "Zotero standalone is currently available"...
    Below i also got "save via server" saying the following:
    Zotero Connector must be authorized in order to save items to zotero.org when Zotero Standalone is not open. (but thats not how to save it into the program right...).
    and i have the following errors:

    That sounds right (the errors are irrelevant). So what are you saving, and how are you checking for it in Standalone?

    well, mostly articles I found in the university library online. So stuff like journal articles.
    And most of the time I do get a small box right below on my screen saying it has been saved, but i never see it appearing in my library in the stand alone.

    There's nothing special you need to do, but we do need more specific descriptions of the problem.

    "Articles I found in the university library online" -- sample URLs exactly as you see them?

    "I do get a small box" -- does that include the title of the item(s) you're trying to save? Does it specify a location other than "Zotero"

    "I never see it appearing in my library" -- how/where exactly are you looking for it?
