Sites that Zotero misses

I'm having issues with Zotero not picking up info from NASA's Glenn Research Center page (grc.nasa.gov) and putting info in the wrong categories from HowStuffWorks. Anyone else having issues?
  • Can you provide a couple of specific URLs to pages within sites that you find problematic & describe what happens vs. what you'd expect to happen?
  • Some URLs that don't seem to work at all are:
    https://www.grc.nasa.gov/www/k-12/airplane/otto.html
    https://www.grc.nasa.gov/www/k-12/airplane/ramth.html
    https://www.grc.nasa.gov/www/k-12/airplane/brayton.html
(as far as I know, anything from grc.nasa.gov doesn't go properly)

When I load the page for these, the extension just sits there, not changing the icon to a document or anything, even after extended periods of time, like it simply doesn't notice that there's a page loaded.

In addition, any HowStuffWorks article I load into Standalone doesn't pull the author.

I'm using the Safari Extension with Standalone if that helps
  • There is no site translator for NASA GRC and the examples you show are just web pages with little consistent metadata. Saving a Web snapshot is as good as we're likely able to do.

How Stuff Works also has no site-specific translator. But it does have some embedded metadata. Presumably they don't embed author info.
  • I know HSW posts the author's name, i don't exactly know how this whole thing works so I couldn't tell you if it's embedded or not
  • It is not embedded in a standard format. You can request that they include this info. It is trivial

It is likely possible to make a site translator for HSW, but I haven't seen another request for that and zotero focuses on content that is likely to be cited.
