Syncing with Box.com - clarification needed

Hi, relative newbie here. I have Zotero Standalone installed on two computers, and I sync with Box.com. The syncing works just fine, except for one thing.
A few of my files on Zotero are Word docs that I edit from time to time, but the changes do not sync.
I am used to syncing other stuff between computers using Dropbox previously, and hubiC currently, so am I right in thinking sync does not work in the same way with Zotero and Box.com?
The only way I have found to get get round it is to right-click the doc on Zotero, select Show file, copy it, paste it to desktop, add it to Zotero and send the earlier version to trash, which is a bit cumbersome.
  • no, it doesn't work exactly like Dropbox sync*, but it should certainly sync files after they're changed. After you save the attachment after annotating, does the "Date Modified" time in the right-hand pane change?

*what it doesn't do is save a file version history the way Dropbox does, so it may not be the tool you _want_ to use for this particular job.
  • Thanks, Adam. Just checked the last doc that I edited in Zotero. On the computer I did it on, a desktop pc with Win 8.1, the date modified shows correctly at 18:33 on 15 March, while the other, a laptop with XP, shows date modified as 12 March for the same file.
I'm not bothered about version history, all I want is the latest.
  • and you're sure that files sync correctly otherwise? E.g. a new file that you add will appear on the other computer?
  • Absolutely. Whether adding new files, moving ones between collections, or deleting them, the syncing is flawless.
  • @Dan -- you'd need to check on this
