Metadata retrieval is giving "No matching references found"

Report ID :1557622518

The metadata retrieval of a particular pdf is giving "No matching references found". The url of pdf is
http://arxiv.org/pdf/physics/0512106v1.pdf

Kindly resolve the issue
  • You can go to the arXiv page itself and save the metadata in the first place, which will also save the pdf for you:

    http://arxiv.org/abs/physics/0512106v1
  • (you won't get metadata for every PDF. It's generally more reliable to grab items via Save to Zotero icon as zuphilip suggests).
  • Agree with the idea that getting it via the save to Zotero icon is a better experience, but do we have thoughts on whether we should improve PDF import for specific PDF providers? All arXiv PDFs are watermarked with a link that is the very first line converted when using pdftotext. This one says:arXiv:physics/0512106v1 [physics.soc-ph] 12 Dec 2005and it'd seem fairly trivial to look for that on PDF import.
  • I'm very much in favor of any such attempts on databases that are non-marginal. Nothing but advantages: additional hits, better data, and less reliance on google scholar.
Even if we run 25 such regexes on every PDF, that'd still be plenty fast.
