Parentehese v. Brackets

Hi Community Members,

This may seem like a silly issue, but I am trying to find a citation style that is numeric, but lists the numbers in parentheses, not brackets.I found one before, but now that I'm trying to resubmit a manuscript, I cannot remember which citation style that I had originally selected.

You may wonder why this is an issue. Answer: In my point by point response I selected AMA, not giving much attention to the matter and now I cannot find the correct format. My preferences are now set at IEE, which is what I thought I had originally used, but it places the numbers in brackets. :\

On another note: Is it possible to create a "favorites list" within Zotero for citation styles commonly used?

  • Vancouver uses regular parentheses.
http://editor.citationstyles.org/searchByName/ has a list of popular styles
That same site also allows you to use for styles by examples, so you could find other styles that are AMA-ish with regular parentheses.
  • Adam,

Thank you very much. Just as you said, Vancouver uses regular parentheses. And the nice thing is that it was already installed on the Zotero app! Also, thanks for the resource link. I'm sure it'll come in handy in the future; there are so many different styles, having visual examples of what one is looking for can make the selection process much more stream-lined. Once again, thanks!

    Best wishes,
