Accidentally deleted whole collection - how to get it back?

Hello,

i accidentally deleted an entire collection and all the entries stored in it. There is no chance to "undo" or "cmd+Z" it. Is there any possible way to get the collection or at least the entries back?
The auto-sync function probably already saved the mistake. But I deactivated it afterwards. Is there any help?

Thanks a lot!
  • You can probably find the items in the Library trash. Otherwise, you can probably recover the collection by restoring from a backup:http://www.zotero.org/support/zotero_data#restoring_your_zotero_library_from_a_backup_and_overwriting_synced_changes
  • How did you delete the collection and items? You would have to select all items, move them to the trash, and empty the trash for them to be gone.

If you just deleted the collection, none of the items would be deleted. If you pressed 'delete' when all items in the collection, then the items would have been removed from the collection, but still not deleted. If you selected all items in the collection & moved them to the trash, they should be in the trash for you to recover.

If they're actually gone from your local library because you first moved them to the trash and then emptied it, you would need to cross your fingers that they're on the server or that you have a recent backup.
  • Thank you, I found them in the trash (which I didn't know it exists before)!

So everything is safe. Thanks a lot for the support!
