Initial sync actually working?

I'm syncing a new Windows machine to my Zotero account. All I see is the spinning green wheel: no error message, which I guess is good, but no sign of actual syncing either. How can I tell if things are actually working?

    you can hover over it to see what it's doing at the moment. An initial sync of a medium-large library can easily take 30mins-1h depending on internet connection and server load.

    P.S. After half an hour or so the folders column did begin to populate, and some files in the folders, so evidently things are indeed working. It would be good to have an early sign of success, though.
