Required metadata fields allowing best compatibility with Zotero

We are currently developing a citation heavy product and want to ensure that the metadata includes the necessary fields to take best advantage of Zotero. I'm looking for information beyond the FAQs and 'making your site work with Zotero' - are there any more specific guidelines available/

    I have a similar question. Is there any formal documentation for the Zotero bibliographic model? i.e. what content types are supported and what fields are allowed for those types? It would also be interesting to know how those fields map to the supported export formats like MODS say.

    Beyond the making your site Zotero ready page your best bet is to take a look at the individual translator files. For example you can see how Zotero items map onto MODS in the mods.js file. If you find any issues with the mapping post them to the forums and we can start tickets to fix them.
