trouble with account/ not syncing
Whenever I try to sync from this account (even with just one PDF), the process hangs up and eventually FF crashes. I've tried another account on this computer and the sync occurs in seconds, even with many PDFs. I think there is something wrong with my account.

And what do you mean by "even with just one PDF"? If you mean that you're syncing an empty library, that would be because it's trying to download your full server libraries, and it's possible your computer doesn't have enough memory for that. (The next major version of Zotero will handle very large syncs much better.)
But if you have a Zotero installation that syncs properly and has all your data, you can just transfer over that data directory, and then this copy of Zotero will just pick up in the same place as that one.
