Modifying citation made by Zotero e.g. Dynamed or Uptodate
Is there a way to modify the way Zotero cites a page in a site like Dynamed and Uptodate? These sites, that are updated regularly, and for which we need a registration, have a "how to cite" link in each of their articles, that I would chose instead of the way Zotero cites it.
Thank you!
Thank you!
Generally speaking, I'd also advise against doing this. Citation styles have specific, standardized ways for citing a given type of source. It is more important to follow the citation style you're using than the way a site tells you to cite it.
You can, obviously, adjust the data Zotero imports. So if, for example, an article has an author and Zotero fails to grab that, you can add it manually.
Somewhat, I think that the citations given by Zotero in these specific cases could be improved. I am not an expert in citation, but I think you will understand with these exemples.
Suggested by the specific sites:
1. DynaMed [Internet]. Ipswich (MA): EBSCO Information Services. 1995 - . Record No. 906097, Toxidromes; [updated 2015 Mar 04, cited 2016 Jan 11]; [about 13 screens]. Available from http://search.ebscohost.com.acces.bibl.ulaval.ca/login.aspx?direct=true&db=dnh&AN=906097&site=dynamed-live&scope=site. Registration and login required.
2. Bird, S. Organophosphate and carbamate poisoning. In: UpToDate, Traub SJ (S.Ed), UpToDate, Grayzel J (D.Ed). (Accessed on December 24 2015.)
Suggested by Zotero:

As for the rest:
The main issue there is what Zotero imports from those sites, which is just the basic webpage information. Unless someone implements specific support for them in Zotero, you'll have to fill the info out manually.
I'm not entirely clear how that'd look for DynaMed, since their suggested citation is a big mess, but for UpToDate you'd want to turn this into a book section with the respective authors and editors and UpToDate as the publication title and you'll get something pretty reasonable.
I'm not that convinced that the DynaMed citation is that much better as they suggest it (what with the Ipswich, MA in there), but you can adjust the data in Zotero somewhat to approximate
