Starting New

I am not sure where to place this post. A year ago I started trying out different citation programs. I installed the Zotero stand alone on my desktop, and a different version on my laptop. I tried it out for awhile, but due to school etc, I put it aside to use later. Now zotero seems to be what I want to use, but I have citations in (everywhere it seems) different applications including zotero.
As I see it I have 2 problems:
#1 - choose and use the version of zotero which will work best for me.
#2 - get all of my citations under one roof and accessible even when I am traveling and internet access is unavailable.
I am behind, but trying to catch up on my Literature Review for my dissertation. I love the system I am using, but need to take it to the next level and for that I believe zotero is the answer. I am concerned that just starting over will make an even bigger jumble than I have now.
  • Do you have any specific questions yet that would help us help you? Re. 1, I assume you're busy deciding on whether to use the Firefox extension or standalone?

Re. 2, you should be able to busy setup syncing to get all of the references in both versions you are running into both computers. If you don't have documents that have used zotero citations, removing duplicates should be fairly easy.
  • Thank you, I guess my problem was never properly sync'ing everything.
#1 -I have decided to use Zotero
#2- I will poke around to see if I am having other issues.
    Thanks again.

Here is fine, but I guess I'm not quite clear what your question is?

You can use different versions of Zotero on different computers and even on the same computer (on different computers keep them in sync:
https://www.zotero.org/support/sync , on the same computer, make sure they share a data directory, which is the default installation:
    https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/sharing_data_directory )

edit: sorry, I had this open in a tab & didn't see prior exchange, leaving this in case it's relevant.
