How to export references without certain fields

Hi, newbie here - forgive the perhaps unintelligent question.

When I want to create a bibliography or export references it includes my abstract and notes (the latter I can disable when exporting, I know). However, I only want to export the basic citation (e.g. author, year, title, publication).

How can I specify which fields to include/exclude?

This question also applies to the 'export to citeline' option which is available through the Zotz plugin.
  • those seem to be two different questions - for a bibliography, what you "export" depends on the style - if none of the styles meet your needs, it's very easy to exclued certain elements by modifying the .csl of the style. So this is easy

    For exports of bibliographic entries - including for citeline - that's more complicated - I don't see an easy option there atm.
  • Thanks Adam for your reply. I did a search for .csl files on my computer but there don't seem to be any...where do find them in order to edit them?
    Maybe I should dive into the manual/helpfiles but perhaps it's straightforward enough not to have to.

    In your case you can just modify the part following:
    <bibliography>

    but as I said, that's only for the bibliography part, not for exporting library items. The export functions are more deeply integrated into Zotero, I can't help you with that.
