can't install SA on Mac/Chrome - "permissions"

I continue to get the following error message:
The operation can’t be completed because you don’t have permission to access “Zotero”.

I have downloaded and launched the installer for Standalone for Mac/Chome - After trying to drag/capy the app to the folder I intend to hold Zotero - I get the dreaded Copying ZERO of XXX MB and thene the system return the error message: "The operation can’t be completed because you don’t have permission to access “Zotero”. I have an onlile account - Itried to intall with online account open. closed, with the Chrome extension installed/uninstalled - I give up!
Please advise. Thanks!

    That's not a Zotero error message (so it has nothing to do with a Zotero account, which you don't need to install Zotero)-- the permission is a Mac system permission.
    Someone else may have a better idea what causes this on a Mac
