"Attach link to file ..." Grayed-out

I'm in an item under a Collection within a Group Library. I want to attach a file to that item. I right-click, select Add Attachment and see the choice "Attach link to file .." which is, however, grayed-out and not accessible. How do I fix that, please.

    you can't use link to file in groups (as links would presumably break across different group members' computers).
    If you you do need a file attached, use "attach stored copy of file"

    Thanks ... but 'Attach stored copy of file' is grayed-out as well.

    Then either that group doesn't allow file attachments or you don't have the required permissions to add them or you haven't synced successfully since you gained those permissions. Check with the group's owner or one of its administrators.
    (The settings are under "Manage Members" and "Manage Library" respectively on the group's page on zotero.org)

    @adamsmith I have the same problem.
    Only 'attach link to URI' is active, but I am the owner of the group ... do you have an idea why?

    Links don't work in groups at all. It's not a permissions issue
