Installing Zotero on a MacBook

I can't seem to install Zotero. I can download the file from the web page and when it shows up in my finder window, I click on it, and it says that the file is in the wrong format. I have the most recent software on my computer and I just dont know what to do.

    You need to be using Firefox.

    I am having the same problem but with a PC and am using firefox 3. Zotero downloads the 1.2M file but it is nowhere to be found and restartinf firefox does not install the Zotero icon. Have also tried the suggested downloeadin XPI file by right clicking on the download button from zotero.org, but is in wrong format aparently

    1st make sure you haven't already installed Zotero. Check tools---> addons, is Zotero there?

    2nd, Not sure what you mean when you say the XPI file is the wrong format. Did you try dragging it into an open Firefox window?

    3rd did you try getting it from the addons site instead? https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3504
