How to force a "handler"

I have zotero running on an El Capitan Imac.

I store all sorts of stuff in it. and have taken to putting sound byte, speeches etc, from people, as Mp3s.

When I double click on an Mp3 file in Zotero, it would appear that it activates Itunes drags that MP3 into Itunes, and then starts to play it. How do I convince zotero to use quicktime player, audacity or some other Mp3 handler, instead.

    Zotero should use your systems default software for opening any given filetype, so if you want to change the program Zotero uses to open a file, you need to change your system setting.
    I don't believe it's possible to set up Zotero-specific handlers (it definitely isn't possible with any GUI option; if at all it'd be something to set up with hidden preferences).

    I thought that might be the case, and a double check shows Itunes as the default (half way through a system migration), so it's one of the things on the "to do".

    But... Even quicktime, audacity et al, are "heavy" - the basic lightweight mp3 player in "Quick look" is preferable, but haven't been able to find anything about making "Quick Look" the default handler (as opposed to it's normal mode operation - selecting a file and hitting space bar, or command-y. That's more of a quicklook/apple question - I will go looking for somewhere to ask.

    Question from that - I am running "Standalone" - what is the state of Firefox addons/plugins with the standalone version. Alternatively, how well to the SA, and the FF versions integrate (i.e. can I run both, and change as appropriate?

    You can install many Firefox plugins to work in Zotero Standalone. All of the Zotero-focused plugins except Zotero Prevent Duplicates.
