Database upgrade error

Dear all,
I met a problem in zotero.
The error message is:
"Database upgrade error

[Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80630001 (NS_ERROR_STORAGE_BUSY) [mozIStorageConnection.commitTransaction]" nsresult: "0x80630001 (NS_ERROR_STORAGE_BUSY)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://zotero/content/xpcom/db.js :: Zotero.DBConnection.prototype.commitTransaction :: line 497" data: no] [ERROR: database is locked]"
I restarted my computer and reinstall zotero, but nothing happened.
I use Ubuntu 14.04 system.
I found that some of the files in the directory storages/ have some errors "input/output" error, when I copied all the files in zotero directory to another hard drive.
I think maybe something is wrong with my hard drive.

After I copied all the files to the new hard drive (some of files in storages/ failed because of the error), and I used the new location as the data directory of zotero, the same error appeared again.

I think because the file "zotero.sqlite" and the data files are not compatible.
Are there some solutions the problem?
For example, regenerating a new "zotero.sqlite" file based on the files what I have in the new directory?

Thanks a lot.
Regards,
Bin
  • do you have the Zotero data folder in a custom location such as a network drive or Dropbox?
  • The folder is in a custom location, the older folder is in my mobile hard drive, the new folder is in another hard drive which is in the same network as my computer, and has been mounted on my computer.
  • first thing to try would be to move it to the default location. There could be something odd going on with drive mounting.
  • After I copied the storage/ folder and "zotero.sqlite" to the default location, it works now. Thanks for your answer.
  • hello, here is my problem. Same thing, Zotero will not start even after another download... I have no idea how to fix this as I am NOT computer savvy. I work on a modified version of windows 10 (I think)

[Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80630001 (NS_ERROR_STORAGE_BUSY) [mozIStorageConnection.executeSimpleSQL]" nsresult: "0x80630001 (NS_ERROR_STORAGE_BUSY)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://zotero/content/xpcom/db.js :: Zotero.DBConnection.prototype.query :: line 149" data: no] [QUERY: DELETE FROM itemTypesCombined] [ERROR: database is locked]
  • maybe I should add that I was modifying my document entries when my computer shut down (no more battery)...
  • first thing we always ask is if you have tried restarting your computer and if you have your Zotero folder in a custom location (Dropbox, Network drive, external drive)?
  • Hello Adam Smith ;)
I have access to Zotero again today (??!!) so I guess you can close the topic !
In case you are interested : yes, I did restart my computer when the problem happened (I just asked to restart, I did not shut down the computer completely, wait, and start it up anew) ; I do not have a custom location.
Anyway, thank you for your reactivity and availability, it is very nice to know we have a support team ready to help. All the best, jo
