Integration with Word 2016 for Mac - toolbar?

Hi, there -
I've been trying to troubleshoot this issue for awhile now and am back to try again. I followed the instructions as listed here, https://www.zotero.org/support/word_processor_plugin_troubleshooting#toolbar_does_not_appear_in_word_20042011_or_is_incompatible, to reinstall the appropriate components from Zotero standalone and to then tell Word 2016 where to look for the zotero.dot template at startup. Interestingly, even though I've given it the path to the old Word 2011 location and it retains that path, I note that the box to load it at startup is unchecked every time I launch word and go to look at it from the Templates and Add-Ins menu.

I then followed the discussion here, but I'm still at a loss as to how to make the toolbar/icons/whatever the new menus look like for Zotero show up under Word 2016. Can anyone lend a hand? Thanks.

    Instead of changing the startup path, what you'd want to do is to copy the zotero.dot from it's current location in the Word 2011 start folder to the Word 2016 folder (so that it's in both locations). Have you tried that?

    Also, have you tried checking the box under templates? Does it work then?

    This is very interesting. My install of Office 2016 (which came from a university site license installer) did not install the Mac apps into an "Office 2016" folder, similar to Office 2011. Instead, I have Microsoft Word.app, Microsoft Excel.app, etc. So where would I move this file to, in this case? In other words, the path is Applications/Microsoft Word.app and there's nothing similar to Applications/Microsoft Office 2011/Office/Startup/Word. So there is a different place where these need to be installed. I'll investigate.

    Indeed, looks like the correct path for that file for Word 2016 is:

    ~/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office/User Content/Startup/Word

    So, I moved the .dot file to the proper new location, as listed above, then opened Firefox and went to Preferences > Cite and reinstalled the Word plugins. I also did the analogous action in Zotero standalone, which might have been unnecessary. Opened Word back up, the Add-Ins menu is still there and now when I click on an action, it brings up the Zotero menu as expected. Woo!
