Bibliography appears in file names rather than desired format...
Dear all, I appologise if this is a very newbie problem.
It's my first venture with any referencing software. I added all my PDFs. I downloaded metadata, I downloaded and set-up the referencing style for my target journal. I added all my citations, but then when I ask the programme to give me a bibliography, it basically spits out a lits with the file names rather than the format specified in the settings. Any ideas why?
Thanks for your kind help,
Michal
PS, I am in China at the moment so please do not send me to youtube.

Import an item via the "Save to Zotero" icon, e.g.
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/26074225
to see how this should look. Check that you can cite that.
You say that you've downloaded metadata, but are you sure that was successful?
Yes it looks like it. I only downloaded the metadata, afterwards and I hoped it will update, all the files. Metdata was not available for all of them, but even for those cases where it was downloded successfully it did not replace the names in the bibliography. And for the PDF file it only gives me the option to change it's name, rather than add all th einformation to it.
I am trying to figure out how to change all the refernces where I cited e.g. the pdf Baudoin, to the referencing file from the metadata, but so far I am failing.
BTW I am using the standalone version, though I also have the Mozzila one installed.
Thanks for all the help.
Where it didn't find the metadata, use right-click-->Create Parent Item and then manually fill it out.
