Alphabetically order bibliography (multiple styles)

Hi there,

As I'm writing my paper for a journal (IEEE), I do the references as I go down the document, then I generate the bibliography. The way it generates currently (as I've read in other threads) is by the order you place it in-text.

It would be nice if at the end, we could choose to order the bibliography alphabetically, and it adjust the in-text citation numbers (i.e. [1] might become [12]).

I was looking for this feature, and I'm currently trying to find a way around it without having to do the citations all at the very end.

Thanks!
  • Bibliography order depends on your choice of citation style. IEEE author instructions dictate that they be ordered as cited. To change to alphabetical order, you would need to modify the style or pick one that is already ordered in the way you want.
  • (there are several styles that include the label "alphabetical" available on zotero.org/styles. They all do what you want, for example).
  • Thank you guys for your prompt feedback! :)

I had checked some reference papers for the journal I am writing for, and saw that a couple of them had ordered their bib by alphabet. I checked some others after your reply and they did like you said..a little confusing but all good!

Thanks for the reference adamsmith :)

    Cheers!
