758019857 Highlighted citation no longer exists

I've run through all of the help listed here: https://www.zotero.org/support/word_processor_plugin_troubleshooting#debugging_broken_documents

And still can't insert a new citation without having all of my old citations cause this error message to pop up.

When I tried deleting half of the document at a time, both halves still created that error.

    sounds like you may have broken your databases connection to the document. Did you use import/export recently?

    To troubleshoot this futher: if you're using Word, could you press alt+F9 and copy the full fieldcode of one citation (should be pretty clear what that is - it'll appear around the citation in Word). In LibreOffice those are a little harder to get to.

    I did use import recently, but my citations were working perfectly still until today.

    Here's the fieldcode:

    if you put "9S9NE8I5" (no quotation marks) into the quick search bar in Zotero and press enter - do you get a result?

    No, I don't.

    I'm sorry to say, then it looks like you did break to connection of your database to Zotero. What exactly did you do that involved import? Do you happen to have a back-up of your database from a while back?

    Restoring that would at this point seem your best bet.

    I was suddenly getting the same result -- not able to either edit old citations or add new ones.

    I didn't do an import or export explicitly, but I did begin using my Zotero database on a new machine, for which I had to sync. When I returned to the old machine, nothing worked until I synced again on this.

    All is well now, it appears.

    Make sure that you are signed in to Zotero (in the Firefox addin or freestanding program, for example) and click "Sync".
