Koha Translator

Hello everyone.
Hope to find you well.

I am having a problems to grab references from Zotero whenever I am searching in a koha web catalogue. When I want to save references on a results list its always giving strange results like its reading the cover and not the metadata. Actually I believe I am not the only one let me post here a bug report on te official Koha forum http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=12331

But if we try using Coins it works...

Thank you very much
  • Could we get a url or at least a specific koha implementation for which that's happening, please?
  • Sorry for the delay

Do you mind I use our own Library OPAC?

    http://librarytestnew-opac.usj.edu.mo/

From the bug report in Koha forum it happened more often...

    Thank you very much

    Kind regards
  • so the problem is just the display of the search results, right? I also get very poor import data on that catalog, but that'd appear to be an issue with the underlying MARC data.
  • Hello. Good evening!

I just picked up this example http://catalog.bywatersolutions.com

Bywater is one of the companies that offers as service installation and maintenance of koha and they are having the same problem. Using zotero koha translator we cant download references in bulk but using Coins we can.

And adam you are right I think Koha translator also need some tuning on the data collecting side as well.

I dont think its only a display problem its seems deeper than that.

    Thanks

    Kind regards
  • I still can't reproduce an actual error on import. When you select items in the import dialog from the search, they import just fine for me. It's just that their titles aren't displayed for selection.

This is a bit tricky because the structure of Koha search results varies. E.g. the current version works on
    https://catalogue.univ-lyon3.fr/cgi-bin/koha/opac-search.pl?q=thelen

and it's tricky to keep that working and fixing yours.

Yes they import...almost perfectly. I noticed that the call number in Zotero is fetching information from the Dewey Classification field 082$a and not from a local call number field. And the Library Catalog information could be copied from the generated webpage metadata from the title (
University of Saint Joseph catalog › Details for: Economic ethics and Chinese culture
), copying only the Library name.

Concerning the display I think it is due to the fact that Universite Lyon is not using the last version of Koha. Is it possible that Koha translator could first identify the koha version and automatically change the behaviour accordingly?

Within the metadata we can find the generated webpage the koha version info, for my Library ( ). VERSION 3.2001000

From Universite de Lyon ( ). VERSION 3.1414000

Could work...! (I am sorry I can't help, I don’t have programming skills.)
  • Hello everyone, Adam

If we try to get records from a list the behaviour is different maybe because the only method to download available is Coins.

    http://librarytestnew-opac.usj.edu.mo/cgi-bin/koha/opac-shelves.pl?viewshelf=3&sortfield=

Although it does not download the full metadata

Is there anything I can do to try to help with this problem?

    Thanks
  • A translator fix is now up. Your version of Zotero will automatically update within 24hs, or you can update manually using the "Update Now" button in the "General" tab of the Zotero preferences. If you're using Standalone, restart Zotero and your browser after updating.

Any further problems let us know & thanks for reporting
  • Dear Adam

Thank you very much. I think all Koha and ZOtero users will be more than happy with this fix. Its working perfectly.

One more thing (kindly tell me if this is the right place or should I open another discussions).

Using Koha Connector where (which field) is Zotero fetching the call number? I think it should be on a holding field (local field) 952$o

    http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Holdings_data_fields_(9xx)

However because Libraries might have a lot of holding from the same record this could be a problem. But using the classification number could be a problem some Libraries adopt locally created call numbers, others with no free access to shelves might use deposit localization numbers, etc. Nevertheless I believe Zotero could use local call numbers.

And the "Library Catalog" information is fetched from where? It would be nice if by default it could use the html title tag...

Thank you very much once again

    Kind regards
