Zotero won't open due to XULRunner version issue

I have Zotero Standalone for Windows 7. It has been auto-updated so I'm not sure which version. I've been using for 2 years but suddenly on Weds. (10/7) When I try to open the application I get an error:

XULRunner:
Error: Platform version '41.0' is not compatible with
minVersion >=31.0
maxVersion <=39.*

This error persists even after restart, attempt to update XULRunner etc.

Have you tried just re-installing?
We don't normally recommend this, but this is a very odd error.

Just out of curiosity, had you tried to build Zotero Standalone from source previously? (If you're not sure, the answer is no.)
