Unresponsive tinyMCE script on nearly every operation

It seems like on any operation that is changing my library (inserting new items, modifying items, etc.) Zotero standalone becomes unresponsive until I get the following "Unresponsive Script" error for the following script:

Script: resource://zotero/tinymce/tiny_mce.js:2152
----------
I could not track down what this script was so couldn't see what was going wrong at line 2152. Any insight on this? I do also have the Zotero plugin running on Firefox.

    the script is just the rich text editor for notes, so that's odd.

    Do you have any other Zotero add-ons installed? Which version of Zotero are you on?

    I believe the only add-ons I have are Zotfile and Better BibTex.

    My standalone version is 4.0.28.8. In Firefox, Zotero has the caution that "Zotero could not be verified for use in Firefox. Proceed with caution."

    yeah, you can ignore that message. Do try disabling both of those add-ons and see if the problem persists.

    Looks like the problem was with Better BibTex, specifically when I had automatic export turned on. Turning off automatic export resolves the issue. Don't know why that happens, but it's something I can live with for now.

    you should talk to the better bibtex developer at his github site -- he has been working a lot on getting auto export to be unobtrusive and there should be a workable option for you.
    The general reason for the freeze is simple, though: with autoexport, you trigger a full bibtex export of your entire library after each change. That, in turn, will freeze Zotero.
