Unable to download citations from website

Hi there,

I have Zotero standalone and used to be able to save citations and documents from Jstor, but this has stopped working. When I click on the Zotero icon in the address bar, a pop up appears in the bottom right of the screen saying 'Saving to My Library' but nothing appears in either my Zotero Stand Alone or Online.

I can still download citations from newspaper websites.

    which browser? What's a URL for JSTOR exactly as you see it?

    Just tried, I get taken to a page that says:

    Your connection is not private

    Attackers might be trying to steal your information from 0-www.jstor.org.catalogue.ulrls.lon.ac.uk (for example, passwords, messages, or credit cards). NET::ERR_CERT_COMMON_NAME_INVALID

    yeah, so your university's proxy doesn't seem to be handling https requests, but JSTOR only serves their RIS data over https. I don't think there's much we can do about that. FWIW, this should work on campus if you can connect without the proxy (that's the 0- and the .catalogue.ulrls.lon.ac.uk part)

    Out of curiosity -- can you use Citation Tools --> Export Citations and then export to RIS?

    Just tried, clicking on Export Citations takes me to the same 'Your connection is not private' page.

    Why would it have worked before, and now stopped working?

    I think JSTOR may have changed their settings (about 6-8 months ago), but who you really should be complaining to is your university's IT/library: As you can see, the way they have implemented their proxy service prevents basic functionality on a major academic site from working.

    If you do get a hold of someone, I'd suggest not mentioning Zotero (which they may not be familiar with or be inclined to blame): Just point out that Export Citation from JSTOR isn't working anymore. If they fix that, Zotero will also start working.
