Highlights manager/digest
Hello everyone.
I have been a Zotero user for quite some time now, but I might be moving on soon because I'm fairly confident that Zotero can't do what I want it to do. I highlight my papers as I read them in paper form, and I would like to digitize these highlights, which I will do manually. What I want a references program to do is take all the highlights from a paper and present them in "digest" form. That way, I could cut all the highlights out of a paper at once and put them in Word or somewhere where they would be fully searchable. This is ultimately what I want so that, as I'm writing manuscripts, I can search these highlights to figure out which sources said what. Alternatively, if I could search my highlights through the references program itself, that would be even better, but I suspect none of the programs out there can do that.
My question then becomes--can Zotero do this? And if not, is there a program out there that can? Or is there a reasonable workaround that I could employ to get to where I'm trying to be?
Thanks!

That can auto-extract all highlighted text from PDFs and put it into a note. Not sure if that's what you call a digest, though?
