Lost Library

Hello,

I recently downloaded and started using Zotero a few days ago. Upon downloading it, I spent nearly six hours searching for and saving academic articles to two specific folders into my Zotero library. Today, I logged in and I can't find a single one of the articles I saved, nor the folders I placed them in. My library is empty. Could I please know how this happened and how I could proceed to retrieve these lost library items?

Thanks in advance.
  • Is this on the same computer you added the items on? And what do you mean by log in? Zotero saves items locally. You don't need to log in to see your library

    "I logged in..."

You are new user so let us establish some basics that I've observed that novice users sometimes do not get immediately.

Is this correct? Please respond to each statement.

You downloaded Zotero to your computer.

You searched for articles online and used Zotero's download icon to bring the metadata into the Zotero client on your computer.

Upon completing each download the records appeared in the collections in your library.

    Answer these questions:
Are you using Zotero stand alone or the Firefox add-in?

If you are using Z standalone (I apologize if this seems obvious) and you open it; are the records in your library?

By log in, do you mean that you viewed your Zotero account online and found nothing? If that is the case, did you sync your local Zotero library to your online Zotero account?
