APA 6th reference for chapter of edited book

I'm trying to write a reference for a chapter of an edited book in APA 6th. what occurs is as follows:

Morawska, A., & Sanders, M. (2014). Disorders in childhood. In Abnormal psychology: Leading researcher perspectives (3rd ed., pp. 401–446). NSW, Australia: McGraw-Hill Education.

what is supposed to happen is the editors name [Rieger, E. (Ed.),] should be inserted between the In and the words Abnormal (i.e. the book title) however since there is no option for the editor in zotero (im using the book section, since the only other option is book and neither is really correct) ive tried to edit the bibliography by inserting the authors name between the In and {\i{}Abnormal psychology... which actually inserts the "\i" into the ref and the book title is no longer italicised.
I suppose there should be an edited book chapter heading in zotero to choose from. however in the interim how do i get zotero to allow this correction to the ref.
i have "cheated" by replacing the entire italicised section of the ref manually (i.e. deleted all the "{\i{}title}" bit) through the editor, but this of course does not allow me to use the corrected ref for other documnets.
can you offer some assistance please

this is the link to the APA section on edited book chapters:

  • There is, of course, an option for editoed book chapters in Zotero:
    https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/edited_volumes_and_book_chapters

and it renders APA book chapters correctly.
  • Aha, tyvm :D
your a life saver, i figured there must be an answer i didnt see
    thx again
  • Hi, sorry to drop in, but I have a similar query.
While this is the proper way to register and cite chapters from edited volumes, it won't work for citing the edited volumes as such.
Using the above example, it seems impossible to prouce the following citation:

Rieger, E. (Ed.), Abnormal psychology: Leading researcher perspectives (3rd ed.). NSW, Australia: McGraw-Hill Education.

The same seems to hold for all zotero styles apart from the chicago variants. Am I missing something?
  • You just enter it as a book with an editor instead of an author.
  • Yes, that's exactly what I expected as well.

But when i generate a citation via the zotero website, the (Ed.) does not appear.
(It's ok if your generate the citation via the desktop app.)

This seems to happen for all styles apart from the Chicago variants when generating citations via the website.
  • oh I see. Yes, that seems to be broken on the website. If you could start a new thread in the website category of the forums that'd be helpful.
  • Thanks- I'll do that.
