"Auto" Help Filling Fields

Hey,

I am a big OCD user of Zotero! I like my Zotero clean as a whistle, but I made a mistake filling an authors name and corrected 20 seconds after.

Now every time I started typing the name appears the normal small white box a "suggestion" of the wrong name. And I don't know how to remove it!

Thank you in advance,

Bye

This can be frustrating! It is said that the suggestion drop-down list is self-correcting :

I don't find that it is that simple. After you have made the correction...

    1. Be sure that there are no other records with the erroneous author name.

    2. If you are using Zotero stand alone, quit and reopen it. If Zotero Firefox, quit and reopen FireFox.

    3. If you have a Zotero record with the name error that you have deleted, be sure that you have also emptied the Zotero trash.

As I said above this for me is a major frustration. I'm clearly more OCD than is healthy but for me it isn't merely a cleanliness issue, unless I am doubly careful; this is a means of reintroducing the error.

[Place of publication is one example. Metadata sources may have the place name formatted different ways -- Washington, D.C., Washington DC, Washington D.C., Washington D C, Washington D. C., etc. After importing several items with various place name formats, it is difficult to have to reedit all the varieties to one standard each time the variants are reintroduced. Especially so when items in the dropdown suggestion list are truncated/shortened for screen space.]

I would love to have one (or both) of two options: a) the ability to turn off the suggestion list; b) be able to edit the suggestion list. Even better would be a way to have a name authority list that facilitates converting name variants to a standard.
  • Thank you very much!
