I use zotero 1.0.9, FF3 and linux (locale de_DE.utf-8). I can import http://prola.aps.org/abstract/PRB/v62/i2/p1186_1 and the author's name is correctly displayed as Bułka in zotero. However, if I export my bibliography to bibtex, the file I obtain has Bu?ka as author. Similar problems occur e.g. with http://prola.aps.org/abstract/PRB/v68/i12/e125320 where ß and ö get messed up. Strangely it seems that in other pages, ö and other umlaute work fine.
The updated BibTeX translator that fixes Unicode export in 1.0.9 is now available (for Firefox 3 users only). Your copy of Zotero should auto-update within 24 hours, or you can update manually by clicking Update Now in the General pane of the Zotero prefs.
Closing this thread, which is very old and no longer relevant. Current issues with diacritics are almost always site-specific and should be reported in separate threads.

(That monster should work despite the userid, etc).
Oddly, I can't even import it. When I try, I get a "Could Not Save Item" error.
Nor can I import anything else from ScienceDirect at the moment.

Any ideas?
