files not saving to standalone

Hi all,

I've been using zotero for a while, and just updated to the new version (4.0.27.6). After updating, files are no longer saving to my library. I still see the icon that looks like a page, and when I click it, a pop-up says "Saving to my library", but the document never shows up in my library.

Before the update, the same pop-up window would say "Saving to my library" and then also add a few more lines about saving an attached PDF, etc.

I'm using Safari as a browser.
  • Hmm problem isn't happening anymore. Please disregard!

The same happens here. It seems that the data are saved somewhere in the library (as a quick search reveals), but not in the folder that is selected. There is no problem with Firefox here, only with Chrome. I think the problem could be connected with the fact that I was suddenly invited to do an additional log-in in a pop-up window that was related to the chrome-connector.
  • @toonvh (mankell is likely spam, so ignore):

Yeah, so you're saving items to the server (where they always save to my library) and then they sync down to Zotero.

You do have Zotero Standalone open when you try this, I assume?
And if you look at the Options for the Zotero Chrome connector, (type chrome://extensions into the address bar, press return, and click the “Options” link underneath “Zotero Connector.”) it says that Zotero Standalone is unavailable?

In that case, the most likely cause is something that's intercepting the communication between the Chrome connector and Zotero -- typically that would be a mispecified proxy server or an overzealous Firewall, redirecting the (local) port 127.0.0.1 on which the communication takes place.
  • I am sorry for being slow in responding. You are right: it seems that the Eduroam network in Mannheim was the cause of trouble. So the problem has been solved. Many thanks!
