Suffix entry Jr OR Jr. best practice? With or without "."?

Given the behavior of the various styles, should these suffixes be entered into the Zotero record with a terminal period or without?

    With the period. If the style calls for them to be omitted, they will be stripped, but periods won't necessarily be added if they aren't there. If the style calls for initials, they may add periods, but certainly if the whole given name is printed, a missing period won't be added to just an initial.

    Thank you. That is what I've been doing. Metadata from some sources have the period but others do not. I have the feeling that most do not.

    In my experience, it's a mix and seems to be somewhat field-based. Most databases I use include the periods.
