Adding a reference to the text of the essay

Hi.
I am using Windows 8.1 and I want to insert references in the following way; (Author, date). However, I only have the option of footnotes or endnotes. Not what I need at all, and not accepted by my university.
Please advise.

    The format depends on the citation style. There are hundreds of styles that insert (author, year) including, among those pre-installed, Chicago (author-date) and American Psychological Association as well as all styles labelled "Harvard" on zotero.org/styles
