Can't sync from Zotero Standalone

Trying to move away from Firefox, so I installed the latest version of Zotero standalone yesterday (4.0.26.3 for Linux x64) so I can start working from Chrome. I noticed that Zotero standalone didn't see anything that I'd added to my library since May 3, so I quit, opened Firefox back up, synced my library to the server, quit Firefox, and opened up Zotero standalone again. I tried to sync again, but the spinning progress wheel spun for about 30 seconds and then popped up an exclamation point "trouble" icon. Clicking on it gave me "Error connecting to server. Check your Internet connection."

My Internet connection is definitely up -- ping google.com in a terminal gives me expected results, and I can browse the web (e.g., to file a trouble report here) and check my email with Thunderbird.

  • usually this is related to a proxy -- are you connecting to the internet through a proxy server?
  • Actually, I was at a coffee shop at the time -- now that I'm home again, it looks like everything is working normally. Another Internet-related crime to tack onto the long list of what this coffee shop does, apparently.

Thanks for your quick response on a Sunday -- and thanks, as always, for a fantastic piece of software. (=
