the number of bibilography is not be in order

Hi.
I write a paper for my clinical research with MS Word, Office 365, 64 bit version.

I inserted a few bibilographies at first. It worked normally.
But when I added a bibilography, the number of it was not be in order.

for example, there were No 3 bibilography in line 1 of page 3 and No 4 in line 10 of page 3. when I added a bibilography in line 5 of page 3, the number of new bibilography was 5, not 4.

how can i fix it?
please help me.

thanks.
  • The order of items in a bibliography is controlled by the rules of the citation style. Which style are you using?
  • citation style that i use is
Journal of the American College of Cardiology.

I have a same problem yesterday (MS Word 2010, style ISO 690 czech), after using Zotero Refresh button numbering is OK.
  • It does occur occasionally that numbering would get off, but what you describe sounds very odd. So just to make sure I understand correctly you had:

    Text [3]

    Text

    Text [4]

And then you inserted a citation and you had

    Text [3]

    Text [5]

    Text [4]?

And you're positive that the 4 doesn't appear anywhere before that?
If you insert a bibliography (what you're describing is inserting citations), does that look correct?
  • @adamsmith

    yeah, you understood. correctly.

    blah blah blah [3]
    text
    what what what [4]

    when i inserted a citation between 3 and 4,

    blah blah blah [3]
    text [4]
    what what what [5]
    => i think it's correct! but

    on my screen,
    blah blah blah [3]
    text [5]
    what what what [4]

    and when i inserted bibliography
    3. lionel messi et al, ~~~~~, 2015(x),a;sdlkf
    5. steven gerrard et al, %%%%%%5,2014 (x), asldkfjab
    4. sherlock Holmes et al, ^^^^^^^, 2014 (d), alksdfjli

why, why is "5" between 3 and 4?..
    hey 5, you're not 3.5 !!!

should i reinstall the MS word and Zotero?
  • @adamsmith: Might it help to add an explicit sort on citation-number to the style? The bib order is completely undefined at present, which might lead to odd results (?).

@euijae14: are you try the refresh Zotero button?

    @adamsmith: my situation was:
    original text (from day before): ISO 14025 [3], 14040 [4], 14044 [5], 14064-1, 14067, 11074.
    after adding bibliography: ISO 14025 [3], 14040 [4], 14044 [5], 14064-1, 14067 [6], 11074 [7] and in next step
    ISO 14025 [3], 14040 [4], 14044 [5], 14064-1 [8], 14067 [6], 11074 [7].
    after I used refresh button is correctly: ISO 14025 [3], 14040 [4], 14044 [5], 14064-1 [6], 14067 [7], 11074 [8].

I can say, that I add citation additionally and I gone backwards: in first step I add to the Zotero records for ISO 14067 and 11074 after that I added citation into the paper and when I found that I forgot add to the Zotero record for ISO 14064-1 I done it and added citation into my paper. When I saw the wrong numbering I manually used a refresh button and all was OK. I didnt control bibliography.
  • @eujaie -- how about in a fresh document? Same problem, or is this just that specific document?
