There was an error starting Zotero after update to 1.0.9

Hello Forum

After i updated to 1.0.9 today Zotero stopped working and keeps on saying ¨There was an error starting Zotero"

I checked the forum but found nothing that helped.

Output of the eror console is:
Error: undefined
Source File: chrome://zotero/content/xpcom/zotero.js
Line: 260

System is:
Ubuntu 8.10 64bit (linux 2.6.27-9-generic x86_64)
Firefox version 3.0.5

thanks in advance for any help
  • If you were using a custom data directory in the Advanced pane of the Zotero prefs, try resetting that to the default, restarting Zotero, and then changing that back to the previous directory.

If that doesn't help, please provide debug output for the startup. If it's long you can send it to support@zot....org.
  • Thank you for your fast relply

I tried the first think which did nor work

I switched to debug output then and first looked into it.

Somehow Zotero was not able to read the database but did not fall back to the zotero.sqllite.bak neither did it start.

I manually substituted zotero.sqllite with zotero.sqllite.bak which did the trick.

Thank's again and a happy new year
  • FWIW, I had FireFox do an auto-update of the Zotero add-on, and then had a problem with Zotero complaining something about the "scraper" not being compatible.

I re-installed the add-on directly from the Zotero.org home page, and this fixed the problem. It also did some kind of update to the zotero.sqlite database file. I'm not familiar with the internals, but this fix worked, if others are seeing this problem.

    WinXP Home SP2
    FF 3.0.5
    Zotero 1.0.9
