Harvard cite them right 9th edition

I need to use Harvard style and have selected 'cite them right' in the options. I have used this before but find a) the fields for example 'electronic articles' don't exist, which means it does not reference the URL in the bibliography, also it does not italisise the title for journals etc. If there is no date for a report it says 'n.d'. It does not specify the editor in an edited book. What am I doing wrong?

Thank you!
Sabine
  • 1. the electronic article bit: Zotero will treat items as electronic articles if
    a) they have a URL and
    b) they don't have a page range

That generally works quite well. You can remove that second condition by checking the "Include URL" box under Cite--> Styles in the Zotero preferences.

    2. I haven't checked, but isn't n.d. for items without date correct?

    3. Are you sure the editor is listed as an editor and not a contributor in Zotero? Is it printed in other styles? Do you have an example?
  • Thank you!! I am working on it and have cracked the edited book, except that the title is not in italics. I have another urgent question: Journal articles. According to Harvard convention the Journal is in italics. In the examples I have used the Journal becomes abreviated ie> Oxford Journal of Archaeology to Oxf. J. Archaeol. although I wrote the full title.
    Books: title not in italics.
    Many thanks its really HELPFUL.
  • could you post an example citation here as Zotero prints it? It sounds like you're not using the Cite Them Right style.
  • Brück, J., 2000. Settlement, Landscape and Social Identity: The Early Middle - Bronze Age Transition in Wessex, Sussex and the Thames Valley. Oxf. J. Archaeol. 19, 273 – 300.

Curwen, E.C., 2015. The Archaeology of Sussex. Methuen & Co.Ltd, London.

Sheldon, J., 1978. The Environmental Background, in: Drewett, P. (Ed.), Archaeology in Sussex to AD 1500, C.B.A. Research Report.

    Many thanks!!
  • yeah, that looks like it might be Elsevier Harvard. It's definitely not Cite Them Right, not even close. How are you citing, where are you setting the citation style?
  • I have gone to preferences several times and added 'cite them right'as ciatation style. Have I not set it as default?
  • Clearly not. How are you citing? With the Word add-on or using drag&drop?
  • Yeyy I have found the equivalent in the word document settings and changed them to cite them right and dismiss the abrevitions..
Thank you I am sure I will come back with more questions...I think Zotero is great (with some hints..)
