Importing existing personal Zotero libraries into a group library

I'm having a problem copying or moving items from my personal Zotero library into a group library. I can see the green 'add' button in the group library, but this is to import brand new items from scratch (again).

How can I copy items into a group library? Is this even a feature?

Thanks!
  • I use drag and drop to feed items to the group library from my personal library. You can drag and drop multiple items to the group library base or a collection in the group library.

If you select an item that already exists in the group library, it won't let you drag and drop. If you drag and drop, for example, 10 items and 2 of them exist in the group library, only the remaining 8 will be added.
  • Thanks gurdas. I don't seem to be able to drag and drop though. I'm using Zotero in Chrome, but I can't see how that would make a difference.
  • That might be a Chrome thing. It works in Firefox (ZF). And I just tested it to confirm it works in Zotero Standalone (ZS). IN ZS, the feedback isn't as good as ZF. For example, when I hover my mouse over the Group or a collection, it won't get highlighted as it does in ZF.

So, an option is you could install ZF or ZS. I use both ZF and ZS on my computer, but mostly ZF. They will all access the same database, but cannot work simultaneously. SO, if you install ZS, you can continue to work in Chrome, and just use ZS when you need to transfer items to the Group library.
  • Well, if garnetv is actually using Zotero in Chrome, that'd be the webpage version. You can't move items between libraries on the webpage.

You need to have Zotero Standalone installed.
This should be what you're seeing:
