toolbar does not appear in my Word 2008

Hello, my zotero was working fine. But I had to reinstall the OS 10.7.5 and all the programs, included the Firefox, which became 37.0.1 and the Zotero. I’ve chose to install the standalone version 4.0 but I can’t make the toolbar does not appear in my Word 2008 which is in Spanish.
I’ve reinstalled the Word plug-in from Zotero several times, and the word components. It still doesn’t work
May be I have to change some version?
Thak you for the answer, I've spent allready a lot of hours traying to fix it by my self.
Francisco
  • There has never been a Zotero Toolbar in Word 2008:
    https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/no_toolbar_in_word_2008_plugin
or are you saying you don't see it there, either?
  • Thank you. Yes, I don't see it there either...
  • See here then: https://www.zotero.org/support/word_processor_plugin_troubleshooting#scripts_do_not_appear_in_word_20082011_or_are_incompatible
  • Yes Adam, In deed I've done that before with out any chage. But I'tryed again, deleting the Microsotf user data folder named Zotero. I've reinstaled Microsoft Word Add-in in Zotero, then I closed Word and open it... Nothing chages, the plugin doesn't appear yet...
  • but are you sure the folder is actually the active Word Start-up folder? It sounds very much like the template is copied into the wrong folder (which, as this notes, is commonly the cases for non-English Word versions).
How are you identifying the Word Start-up folder?
  • The route that I used is aplications/MicrosoftOffice/Office/inicio/Word, which is empty. How can I find the right one?
  • It should be listed (or possible to open from:
Word > Preferences > File Locations > Startup folder
You should be able to click "Modify" to read the whole filepath. (These of course are the English labels for the menu, but I trust you'll be able to figure out the corresponding ones in Spanish)
  • Yeah! Thank you for your time and patience.
I did that and now there is a Microsoft user data file. Is there from where I must delete the zotero file?
  • No, that's where you need to copy the zotero.dot file _to_
  • OK and where I can find this file?
  • Ignore the bit about zotero.dot. That's for Windows, sorry.

But I'm a bit confused right now. What filepath are you looking at right now? Are you seeing a folder called Zotero in any of the paths now?

(note that the instructions never say to delete the Zotero folder, btw.: They say to delete "Microsoft User Data" if it contains nothing but Zotero).
  • Hi again, yes there is a folder call Zotero following this path Word > Preferences > File Locations > Startup folder (modify) then Documents - Microsoft user data - word sript menu items - zotero
