Books coming through as Documents

I am finding that some of our resources from our catalog are being imported (via translator) into Zotero as documents rather than what they are. This appears to be happening mostly to print books (ebooks are coming through fine).
Our discovery layer is Ex Libris Primo. My Zotero instance(s) and translators are up to date.

I have tried other institutions with Primo and can import a similar title correctly. Any ideas?
  • Can you provide a url to such an example in your catalogue? Either a permalink or describe what search you did.
  • Yes, sorry about that.

    Catalog: http://catalog.library.reed.edu/

My test search was for "heart of darkness" (sans quotes). Use the scope for "Reed Only".

That search will provide you with two ebooks and two print books in the first four results.

I performed the same search in Chrome + Z standalone and in FF. In both instances, print books become documents and ebooks are books. This is clicking on the folder icon.

When you go to the record level:
    http://catalog.library.reed.edu/REED:CP71114512530001451

You will see the icon become a book, but importing it via the translator still renders a document.

It is possible to export as RIS file and all metadata and the correct resource type comes through.
  • Okay, I see. There is just another case "pbook" in the PNX format which should be easy to fix. Stay tuned here...
  • zuphilip's fix is now live. Update your translators using the "Update Now" button in the general tab of the Zotero preferences (if using Chrome/Safari, also restart your browser) and these will import correctly. Zotero will also auto-update the translator within 24hs.
