What does happens to a zotero account if the email will be ceased?

Hi Ladies and Gentlemen. Would somebody know what happens to a zotero account if the email will no longer be valid? Will I still have access to my existing account or will the account and hence the entire library disappear?

As a safety I have created a second zotero account with a new email( I will call it 'NEW' for this discussion purpose) .I will call the account with my old email'OLD'. Obviously the library on the server is empty.
I have a few questions in regards to this, thanks.

1) How do I import the existing 'OLD' library to the new account on the server?

2) When I open the existing library on my laptop ( zotero standalone) and I go to TOOLS, PREFERENCES, SYNC, SETTINGS it shows my 'OLD' username. I then changed it to my NEW username , and when I click on OK, the following message appears:

"This Zotero database was last synced with a different zotero.org account (“OLD”) from the current one (“NEW”). If you continue, local Zotero data will be combined with data from the 'NEW’ account stored on the server.

To avoid combining or losing data, revert to the (“OLD”)account or use the Reset options in the Sync pane of the Zotero preferences."

When I then choose RESET :
Which option do I have to chose?

I thought this one: "Restore to Zotero server. Erase all server data and overwrite with all local Zotero data".

Please could somebody confirm? Thanks.

3) Is the LOCAL zotero data the one which is on my laptop?

Thanks to all for your help.
Have a good day.

Kind regards

Isa

Generally, nothing, because Zotero doesn't know whether the email has expired or not. You can still access the account using your username/email and password. You would obviously not be able to use your old email to recover/reset your password though.
As a safety I have created a second zotero account with a new email( I will call it 'NEW' for this discussion purpose) .
You can also assign multiple emails to the same account (not sure how that actually works out with password recovery and login though) and/or change your default email.

You shouldn't really need to worry about two accounts, since you can just change your email on the existing account, but...
    1) How do I import the existing 'OLD' library to the new account on the server?
You want to do what you did in (2), except you don't want to reset. You just want to let Zotero combine the data from the two accounts.
    3) Is the LOCAL zotero data the one which is on my laptop?
    yes
  • Don't create a new account, or rather just delete the new account you have created. There is no need and it's just going to be trouble (specifically with documents that contain citations from the old/original account).

    1) even if the e-mail becomes inactive, the account continues
    2) you can add an e-mail address to an account and make it the primary e-mail addres (in the account settings on this webpage)
    3) all data is saved locally.
