Syncing problem since abstract is too long

I got this error while syncing: The name ‘h2002,stract = {Traditional programs for gifted ch…’ is too long to sync.

Search for the item with this name and shorten it. Note that the item may be in the trash or in a group library.

I looked for the record containing these words and it appears that these words come from the abstract (summary). Obviously, I do not want too shorten the summary of any publication.

What can I do to fix this?
  • No, if it says that, it's in a name.
  • Hi Dan, Thanks for your reaction but it doesn't help me a bit. What should I do to fix this?
  • find the item that has this listed as one of the creators--author, editor, contributor etc.--and either delete the author or delete the entire item.
If you delete the item, remember to empty your Zotero trash.

If you can't find the item, see the note about it being in the trash or a group from the error message.
  • Hi Adam, the words come from 1 publication in my list of 2575 carefully selected publications.

"Traditional programs for gifted children..." is the first line of the abstract of this publication.

Are asking me to delete the entire publication from my collection? Obviously this would ruin my work completely
  • You don't need to delete the entire publication, just fix the author, which is clearly entered incorrectly.
  • Well there is nothing wrong with the name of the author. Maybe someone can look into this?

    The error number is: 1395584103

    Thanks!
  • Zotero has no way of just inventing this error. There is a name in one of your libraries that starts with
    h2002,stract = {Traditional programs for gifted

maybe it's not the same item. Maybe the item in already in the trash. Maybe it's in a group library.
Before we look at this any further, you'll have to confirm for us that you've checked all of those things.

In all other cases of this, users were just looking in the wrong place or not emptying their Zotero trash.
