Error Report #993061908

Hello,
I tried to save an article from Science Direct with a proxy (http://www.sciencedirect.com.login.ezproxy.library.ualberta.ca/science/article/pii/S0040162514002765).

The article was not able to save, and when I try to close zotero, I get an error report stating "There was an error starting Zotero."

I have restarted Firefox, but there was no impact on the issue.

Regards.
  • meaning you still get the "error starting Zotero" message or just that that page isn't importing?
  • After trying to add the article (and getting the message that the article couldn't be added), I went to close the Zotero window. It was when I tried to close the Zotero window that the error occurred ("error starting Zotero").

After posting this message, I looked at the version of Zotero installed, and realized that it hadn't been updated since mid January (and there is an updated version from mid February). Upon further reading, I had to turn off https scanning in my anti-virus to get Zotero to update.

Once Zotero for Firefox was updated, the problem went away. I am now able to add the article, and I can close the Zotero window without getting the error message.

I am not sure why https scanning is affecting the ability to update Zotero, but it appears that this was the cause of my problem.
