How to start using IBID with Chicago?

Hi! I am using the Chicago style for my intext citations but I just dont understand how to replace the whole citation with "ibid." when I have two or more citations from the same book / article?! So, the first one should look "normal" (Müller 2003, 44) and the next one for example (ibid., 49)... Can someone help me?

Chicago author-date style isn't made to support ibid (otherwise it would just work automatically), but the "note" (footnote) styles are. You'd have to modify CMoS author-date style to use Ibid if that's what you need (unless you don't need it in English, then you can try one of the other-language CMoS styles that do support ibid).
  • ok, now I get it! thanks! ;)
