Bonjour,

Cela fait plusieurs années que j'utilise zotero, c'est un très bon outil, je vous en remercie. J'utilisais un webdav pour syncroniser ma biblio. Mais je suis passé sur celle de zotero depuis quelques temps. Tout ce passais bien, car je faisaia attention de faire une sauvegarde avant quelconque formatage. Je suis passé sur W8 et ma j'ai retrouvé tout. Mais j'ai eu un virus (ou merde) qui m'a obligé à formater mais sans pouvoir faire de sauvegarde. Il me semblais pourtant que ma librairie syncronisait tout ma biblothéque...mais il semble que seuls mes dossier patagés est été conservés. Il y a peut être une mauvaise manipulation de ma part. Y a t il une possibilité de vérifier l'historique?

    By "dossier partages" you're referring to group libraries, yes?

    And if you check your library online, by clicking on "My Library" at the top left of this page, you're not seeing your items?

    Yes, "dossier partagé" are group librairies.
    Yes, i gone to my library on zotero Web site. But my folder was empty. That explain easily why the sincing don't give me my articles.

    is there any chance you had two different accounts? Because it's impossible to sync your group libraries but not sync your personal library. So if the group libraries are there, it would be very odd for your personal library not to be.

    ablaurent: les groupes ("dossiers partagés" comme vous dites) qui ont été conservés, est-ce que ce sont vos groupes ? ou en êtes-vous simplement membre ?

    Yes, and still does — over 3000 items — but it looks like they were all imported on February 8th and synced on February 20th.

    So, ablaurent - again, if you click on "My Library" at the top left on this webpage. According to Dan you should see a large library with 3000 items. Are you sure that's not the case?

    I have tried to different pseudo and email I use usually. Nothing else than ablaurent working.
    When a look at my library I see only 1200 items but not 3000. Where do you see that?

    it's a different count. 3000 includes notes and attachments (I assume). But that means that your library _is_ online, yes?

    Yes, it's online. But that a recovery from a bibtex I made 2 years ago. That means I lost more than a year of work...

    As per Dan, there was nothing in your online library before February 20th, so that's all you have online, sorry. Any old backup of your harddisk would like contain a version of your Zotero database you could restore. You have nothing of that kind?

    I am done backup, but the.rdf file weight 0ko, and the importation faile.

    But do you have an actual backup of your harddisk? Exports aren't the best backups in the first place. Just a copy of the zotero data folder is what you'd really want:

    i made export, and when i try to import it, zotero jam or shut down...

    I feel like we're not getting the full picture. (and remember, you really can write in French if that makes it quicker for you so that you find it easier to provide more details).
    You have an exported version of your library? Is that the 0kb RDF you're talking about or something else?

    i get some other exported files. Just the last one is empty. But when i try to import one of them, zotero scratch. I use stand alone version under ubuntu. But i aslo try to use mozzila version but the result is the same...that why i have import a old version in bibtex

    Je récapitule :
    -vous synchronisiez par WebDAV puis vous êtes passé à Zotero Storage ;
    -vous faisiez des sauvegardes : 1) en exportant un fichier RDF ; 2) mais sans sauvegarder l'intégralité du répertoire Zotero (lisez ceci) ?

    Sachez que seule la sauvegarde du répertoire Zotero est une sauvegarde (l'idéal serait donc d'en avoir une), pas l'export en RDF. Mais malgré tout, vous avez plusieurs RDF si je comprends bien. Toutefois le dernier RDF, quand vous l'importez dans Zotero, fait planter Zotero.

    Enfin vous avez un vieux fichier Bibtex. À partir de quoi a-t-il été crée ? De votre bibliothèque Zotero ?

    C'est bien ça ?

    c'est exactement ca. A un détail près, les dernier RDF sont vide, ou plutot ne pése rien. Ce sont ceux un petit plus vieux qui font planter zotero aussi bien en stande alone que dans mozzila.

    What exactly do you mean by planter/crash?
    Zotero will freeze on importing large RDFs -- that's no problem, just let it run. If Zotero actually shuts down, that's a different story.

    it's freeze and ubuntu say it's don't work or it's shuts down alone

    D'accord. Combien de temps avez-vous laissé à Zotero pour qu'il importe un fichier RDF (non vide bien-sûr) ? Il faut parfois être patient, plusieurs (dizaines de) minutes selon le nombre de documents à importer !

    (edit: mon commentaire est identique à celui d'adamsmith mais malgré tout, combien de temps ? Zotero peut donner l'impression de planter, mais ce n'est qu'un gel/freeze temporaire, parfois très long !)

    Freeze/non-responding is OK. Just let it run. For a large library that may well take 1h. Try closing down all other applications to free up maximum amount of memory.

    (edit: i.e. what Gracile says. The fact that Ubuntu says not responding is irrelevant).

    OK, Gracile, I'll let you take it from here--would be good to check whether there is really no proper back up, that would make things a lot easier.
    If Zotero shuts down on import, that's almost surely a memory problem. Unfortunately, RDF files can't be split into pieces easily.

    you're probably right, that should come from memory pb. I've try the importation from computer start without any other soft load. But the result was the same.
    Thx for your answers, but i'm not sure there is any solutions. I will rebuilt my librairy.

    ablaurent: essayez d'importer votre RDF en attendant aussi longtemps que possible (disons plus d'une heure) et sans faire autre chose sur l'ordinateur en même temps.
    Si Zotero plante complètement (et non un simple freeze aussi long soit-il) systématiquement, on verra ce qu'on peut faire…

    Vous êtes certain de ne pas avoir de véritables sauvegardes (de l'intégralité du répertoire Zotero) ? Et le fichier Bibtex, il date de quand ?

    Bref, dites-nous ce qu'il en est (que ça marche ou pas).

    le Bibtex date de 2013. En revanche j'ai des un dossier zipper avec des .prop et des zip. Mais si je n'ai pas le .sqlite on ne peux rien en faire, si?

    Les .prop et les .zip datent de l'époque où vous utilisiez WebDAV. C'est plus vieux que le bibtex ?

    Vous pouvez ouvrir les zip et regarder ce qu'il y a dedans, ce sont des pièces jointes à Zotero… « mais sachez que, avant Zotero 4.0, les noms de fichiers étaient encodés de façon à contourner une limitation de Firefox. » (je cite ceci

    Quant aux .prop, ils contiennent des métadonnées relatives aux .zip, afin que la synchronisation se passe correctement (cf. ce commentaire) mais rien de très utile pour une sauvegarde je crois…
