citation style Stroke

LS,

I am writing an article which is to be submitted to Stroke (http://stroke.ahajournals.org/). Now, Zotero has a citation style for Stroke, but this is not completely as Stroke prescribes it..
In the instructions for authors (http://stroke.ahajournals.org/misc/ifora.shtml) it says "Do not list the month in the reference". The Zotero Stroke style does mention the month in brackets in the bibliography.
In the text, the citations are supposed to be numbered in superscript (as in the AMA style), but in the Stroke style they are numbered in brackets, e.g. (1).
Since I do not master the programming of citation styles, would it be possible to 'update' the Stroke style to the Stroke Journal requirements according to its 'instructions for authors'?
Many thanks in advance!
Kind regards,

Jilles Bijker
  • sure, Stroke looks like a Vancouver style. Start by installing the Vancouver style with superscript by following this link
    http://www.zotero.org/styles/vancouver-superscript/dev?install=1
Then let me know if there are any other problems apart from mentioning the month (and day) - I'll fix that one later.

Thank you for your quick response!
The Vancouver-superscript style resembles the required Stroke style a lot. The differences are:

    - The Vancouver-superscript style mentiones the issue in brackets after the volume number, e.g. "Stroke 2003;34(12):2830-2834", which according to Stroke requirements should be: "Stroke 2003;34:2830-2834".
    - The (abbreviated) Journal name is printed in italics in the Stroke Journal, Vancouver-superscript prints them in normal font.
    - The Vancouver-superscript adds the month, which should be left out in the Stroke style, but you already mentioned that this one is on the "fix-list".

These are the differences for as far as I can find them in a quick look.
    Thanks again!

    Thanks

  • Usually you should find the style by the journal's name, like here: https://www.zotero.org/styles?q=stroke
