When the URL does not have an icon , I right click the page and it saves to my local Zotero, however it is a local copy on localhost - I want it to save the actual URL so I can return to the original page
which browser? IIRC, for Safari and Chrome that preference may not work (though note that you still get the URL of the page in Zotero's URL field, and you can get to the page by clicking on the "URL" letters. )
As adamsmith explains, if you click on the Zotero item in the center pane, you will see the URL in the URL field in the right-hand pane. You can click the "URL" label to open it.
Additionally, if you have a file, Snapshot, or link attachment on the item, you can click on it in the center pane, which will display its title, file path, and the URL it was imported from in the right-hand pane.
We just figured out that Snapshots were broken in the recent version of Zotero, which is why the images were not loading. This should be fixed in Zotero 4.0.26.1, which is available now for Firefox. A Standalone release with the fix is coming soon.
Unfortunately, you will have to re-save any Snapshots that were made since Zotero 4.0.26 was released (February 11th).
Thanks
J

I am using Chrome, disabling snapshot seems to work Ok for sites that display and icon.
However, sites that don't display an icon and are saved using right click only seem to save a local copy
Additionally, if you have a file, Snapshot, or link attachment on the item, you can click on it in the center pane, which will display its title, file path, and the URL it was imported from in the right-hand pane.
