error plugin with openO and Microsoftoffice

i can't run plugin for word editor
i have FireFox3, Open Office 3, Microsoft Office 2007, and Zotero Sync_preview (last update) and plugin for it (1.0b4 , 2.0a2 ).

installaion is ok but when i go to insert citation, OO and also Office crash immediately.

the window don't answer and i must close all...

I try to remove all and to re-install for plugin...but nothing,always the same problem
do you have an Idea?

    i have Firefox and Flock on the same pc
    i changed also flock to port 50002 and Firefox to 50001
    but when i debug i see for firefox (first test, then i close it ) and for flock(second test without FF on) the same:

    Not initializing integration HTTP server
    Not initializing data HTTP server

    how can i repear it ? thanks in advance

    yes this happen always after restart.

    i have Vista....i must think to Firewall,Defencer, User account...are these impossible to be in conflit?

    or what do you suggest?

    It's possible (likely, even) that some other program is already bound to port 50001. You can open a command prompt window and run netstat -ab to list all current network connections, and then look for ":50001" in the left column.

    If you don't see 50001 listed there, I'd suggest temporarily disabling all security software to see if that helps. It's also possible some built-in feature of Vista is preventing Firefox from binding to that port, but I wouldn't be able to tell you what that would be.

    Seems like you're not the first person on Vista to have this problem. We'll have to see how common this is, but I provided instructions on that thread for how to work around this by changing the port.

    ok Dan...seems the same problem, infact i inspect and see:

    this is for port 50001 to 50005. I reset port in FF to 59999
    but when i go On the plugin side to open up Zotero.dot in OpenOffice (Enable Macros), open Visual Basic Editor under Tools->Macro

    i haven't in OO 3.x any Visual Basic Editor.
    Now how can do to change port for plugin?

    Tools > Macro's > Macro > Organize Macro's > OpenOffice.org Basic > Zotero

    then there are a lot of files. how can i Replace 50001 in the plugin code with the port i set in Firefox and resave the template? I must see every single file???

    are you thinking for a patch of this problem?

    sorry Dan and thanks for your patient...i can't find a way to solve this problem and i have to start with my thesis in production with all my bibliography on zotero....so it's a real problem.

    i can't change port 50001 with Visual Basic and i hope you will have a solution...

    I'm not sure if there's a VB editor in OOo, but there's another way. Download a new copy of Zotero.oxt, unzip it (an .oxt is just a zip file), edit the file Zotero/Zotero.xba file, and rezip it. Then uninstall the old version of the plugin, restart OOo, and install the new .oxt.

    Sorry—if you're using the Sync Preview, then you need to use plugin version 2.0a2, in which case the file you edit within Zotero.oxt is Zotero.py.

    i suggest to elgg dev team to integrate zotero in their cms...like wordpress and i'm sponsoring zotero to my friends and i want to give more spotligh on my social network for italian users..... zotero is very great and thanks again...you save me for my thesis!
